Rochers de Naye to Roche(16.07.2013)

2013-07-16 09.46.12 On a cloudless day, David, Amélie Cronin and I start along the crest from Rochers de Naye to Roche DSC06296 Just below Rochers de Naye,a view across the Chablais DSC06297 The Tours d'Aï and de Mayen above Leysin DSC06298 The flowers were out in force
DSC06299 as the trail followed the contour DSC06300 before descending to the Col de Chaude DSC06301 All manner of species DSC06302 Leaving the road to the Col
DSC06303 David and Amélie were still fresh DSC06304 We were one hour into a 6-7 hour day DSC06305 David Cronin DSC06306 local fauna
DSC06307 an hour later we were at the top of the first major climb DSC06308 to the ridge of Aveneyres DSC06309 The path passes through what is nearly a rock garden DSC06310 and then gives us views to the south
DSC06311 and a rocky outcrop where we can stage photos DSC06312 of me with the Chablaisannes Alpes in the background DSC06314 and the couple DSC06315 as David wipes his brow on this warm day
DSC06317 The ridge has many rocky outcrops with cliffs below DSC06318 Our route follows the ridge top DSC06319 and spirits are still high! DSC06320 Lac d'Hongrin in the background and the Swiss Army firing range just below us
DSC06321 We drop down at the end of the ridge DSC06322 Still enthusiastic! DSC06324 We are a bit behind schedule and David calls to alter his restaurant reservations DSC06325 We are much closer to the Tours now
DSC06326 It is a long way down to Roche DSC06327 and this is just the start DSC06328 DSC06329 Golden Rain
DSC06330 I am not sure that I agree DSC06331 It seems a little "triste" DSC06332 Hours later we arrive just above Roche in the deciduous forest. Feet are a bit tender now. DSC06333 But we are soon in Roche getting a cold drink and waiting for the bus to Villeneuve.
